We have spent almost four days in Pennsylvania. We stayed two days in Washington PA to visit Roy’s Aunt Gloria. We had a wonderful day together and she gave me lots of family history. The drive through the outskirts of Pittsburgh was amazing. I love the old brick homes and where Aunt Gloria lives there were a few on her block I’d love to work on. Does anyone have a million dollars to give me? We stayed at our favorite KOA in Bellefonte PA. Wonderful shower facilities. The location is only two miles off I-80 and sits in the pastures of Pennsylvania. Another great location for kids too. Today we travel through NY city to get to Long Island and Linda and Warren’s house. We’ll be there a few days to visit our family!! Grandma and funpop are having a good drive cross country. Love to all!!

August 28, 2021 We had an interesting night at the KOA last night. It was nice weather when we pulled in but then storm clouds gathered. Huge thunderstorm with lots of rain. About 10:00 pm the power went out but returned. We lost the air conditioner and took us a while to get it back on. Driving through Chicago yesterday was painfully slow! Having the IPass for tolls really helped!! Ok. I started out driving today after breakfast. We traveled a small two lane road for 29 miles to connect with the freeway. I missed a turn and decided to turn around in a cemetery. It was a very bad decision. I didn’t run over any graves, knock down any grave stones and with Roy as my ground guide I got us out. There was a large family of Evans’ buried there. I took it as a sign. Maybe we’re share some genes. There’s a movie of my ordeal but it won’t be posted until I have my computer.  There were a couple more wrong turns but Roy survived and so did the truck and trailer. The rest of the day wa...

Barrington, IL

August 25, 2021 It was an interesting ride from Baraboo to Barrington, IL.  We had rain and thunderstorms.  It rained so hard the freeway traffic was down to 15 mph!  It only lasted 10 minutes. It is so nice to be at Victoria's home.  It is beautiful inside and out.  I'll post the pictures of Emmy's garden.  The tomatoes are as huge as softballs heading towards volleyballs.  They live on a small private lake with a dock.  The basement is a complete apartment . . . The bathroom and steam shower is a sight to behold. Victoria is fighting a bug and we have tried to maintain our distance.   Very hard.  I want to grab her and squeeze her to pieces. Glad to be here and rest until Friday.  Pictures posted later. Love, Grandma and FunPop

Baraboo, Wisconsin

August 24, 2021 We had a pleasant drive from Rosemount MN to Baraboo Wisconsin. It’s just outside Wisconsin Dells, the home of water and amusement parks. We had a great time driving by 😜. Our campground was a nice place, especially if you had kids under 10. Kids wanting to do all the activities and the parents looked tired. πŸ˜‰ As we were setting up camp for the night the neighbor guy and Roy started talking. They golfed about 30 minutes after we arrived. Roy was happy. We had a very leisurely morning and hit the road about 12:30 pm. We did top off gas and stopped for groceries. Can wait to see Victoria! Later today.  Love to all, grandma and funpop.😘😘

Rosemount, Minnesota I didn't get a chance to blog for a couple of days.  We had a very nice time in Medora, ND.  The travel to Rosemount took 2 days.  We stayed in Casselton, ND for one nice.  It was really another camp dust bowl until the morning of the 20th.  We had a HUGE thunderstorm and pouring rain.  Roy was glad because it rinsed the truck. πŸ˜‰ It was so nice traveling with Richard and Laurie for the three days.  So many laughs and the views of North Dakota were amazing.  As I might have mentioned in the past, the rest stops in Montana and North Dakota are pretty amazing.   So much better than Washington. We are now at Laure and Richards house.  It is cool today (at least for right now) and partly cloudy.  It's amazing how much you appreciate a real home after 7 days on the road.  I'll try and post some pictures this afternoon. Love to all! Grandma and Funpop

Good evening! It’s been a very nice two days at Medora, ND. Hazy and hot but today was cooler with a wonderful cool breeze.  It has been wonderful having Richard and Laurie here. Trailer life together is one pile of laughs!  We have such a good time together. Next trip is already being planned. Roy and Richard golfed today at Bully Pulpit with two friends from Minnesota. Apparently there was great fun had by all. Here are some photos from these last two days.

Butte MT to Hardin MT

August 16, 2021 It was a very pleasant lazy morning until I misjudged a turn driving the camper. Let’s just say two wheels of the camper are the lovely color of Butte mud. Roy was not happy but was a good sport. I decided not to drive to Starbucks because we knew the parking lot was only made for Smart cars or motorcycles. We got back on the freeway and I started driving again. All the way to Hardin. Again Roy was a good sport and only sucked wind a couple of times. The Hardin KOA Journey camp grounds is more of a trip. Pretty sad with just dust a gravel. It was sad in 2019 but sadder still. It has finally made the list of do not book campgrounds. We did get set up and after about 10 minutes it started to rain, thunder and lightning. It was a 100 degrees too. Left overs for dinner and it’s off to bed soon. We need to get moving earlier tomorrow. Off to Medora, Montana.  Love to all, grandma and funpop 😘😘

Mica, WA to Butte, MT

I posted last night but didn’t create a new post. Read previous post for details. The drive to Butte was beautiful. I understand why people live here but then I see the road side snow markers. Nope. Not for me. The day started a bit rough. I dropped a can of soda on the floor of the trailer. It sprayed ALL over. Half a roll of paper towels later we were on the road. There were 4 u-turns to get to a Starbucks. What we won’t do for a cup of coffee. Then the sewer incident. The hose blew a bit of sewer juice upon hook up. Very unpleasant in all aspects. Never underestimate the stench of sewer juice. Dinner was good and finally got the fridge and cooler organized.  Over all it was a good day. Tomorrow we’re off to Harden Montana. Time to hit the hay.  Love to all, grandma and funpop.

Cross Country Adventure 2021

Image
Well, hello again.  We are hitting the road and I will try to keep up my posts this trip.  It's been a hectic few months and driving cross country seems like relaxing time right now.  Talk to me in two weeks.    πŸ˜‰ We leave tomorrow, heading east.  I'll post tomorrow before bed and hopefully have some photos for you. August 14, 2021 We made it to our first destination and we are staying with friends. Judy and Steve are so kind and generous with their home. Steve has the best shop ever! Huge new tractor and all the fixings. The drive was uneventful but really smoky. This is the Columbia river gorge and those look like clouds. Nope smoke. It usually Is a beautiful view. Well dear hearts, it’s time for bed. Love to all! Grandma and Funpop
